KUALA LUMPUR: THE Duchess of Cambridge Catherine's tasteful and stylish dresses during her tour to Malaysia with Duke of Cambridge Prince William has earned her top marks in fashion among Malaysians.
She wowed with her immaculate and tasteful choices. Social media networks were abuzz with praises for her dresses, accessories and the way she styled her hair.
Many wanted to know what labels she was wearing and where they could get them.
On arrival here on Thursday, Catherine wore a "duck egg blue" dress from Jenny Packham.
The dress featured a button front bodice, lace overlay on the bodice and sleeves, three-quarter sleeves, and a full-pleated skirt.
Later that night, she was stunning in a white and gold Alexander McQueen dress for the royal dinner at the new Istana Negara here.
Her dress was embroidered with gold motifs resembling the national flower, the hibiscus, which was a sweet and thoughtful detail in conjunction with the royal couple's first visit to Malaysia.
She topped off the regal look with high white satin heels.
The duchess and Prince William also received gifts from Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Hajah Haminah.
These included a gold-encrusted kris for William and a pair of black lace peep-toe shoes, a glittering diamante Wilbur & Gussie "Charlie" clutch bag and a batik dress for Catherine, reports the Daily Mail.
On Friday, Catherine wore an icy grey, silk chiffon dress by Beulah London with a pair of nude LK Bennett heels.
The royal couple were on a tour of the Kuala Lumpur City Centre and the Assyakirin Mosque. They took off their shoes at the mosque as a sign of respect, and Catherine put on a headscarf.
Her look was reminiscent of William's late mother, Diana Princess of Wales, who appeared in an almost identical outfit on a visit to an Egyptian mosque during a tour of Egypt in 1992.
The duchess' dress, with buttons on the bodice, is called Sabitri. The label is run by the couple's close friend, Lady Natasha Rufus Isaacs.
Beulah London is a label Catherine also sported in June for the wedding of close friend Alice St John Webster.
Later, Catherine looked cool in a chic, light blue, knee-high lace dress by Alice Temperly as she had tea at the British High Commissioner's residence here before she and William boarded the plane for Sabah on Friday evening.
The beautifully embroidered, boat-necked dress boasts three-quarter sheer sleeves. Her dress is almost identical to the Temperley black Aster Flower dress, and is from the designer's autumn 2012 collection. It is reportedly priced at STG1,550 (RM7,700) , and is, at press time, still available in one size from Harrods.
She sipped tea and chatted to several guests, including shoe designer Datuk Jimmy Choo and pop princess Datuk Siti Nurhaliza.
With her hair swept into a neat bun, held decoratively in place with pearl head pins, Catherine looked the picture of cool calm.
