UNFORGETTABLE: 5 policemen and their brides take LRT, bicycle ride to their reception
KUALA LUMPUR: WEDDING bells rang out for five policemen and their fiancees yesterday, but instead of driving to their joint reception, they took the LRT.
The couples were greeted at the Cheras LRT station by its manager Sharifuddin Abdullah.
They later hopped on the train from Cheras at 1pm and headed to Salak Selatan LRT station which is located near the Salak Selatan police station, where all five policemen are attached.
The brides and grooms were accompanied by a kompang troupe.
Ampang Line head of operation Tarmizi Ansor, who was also present at the event, said it was the first time such an event had taken place on any of the LRT lines.
"This is the first time couples took the LRT ride to head to their wedding reception. By having this, it brings the public transport user closer to the community," said Tarmizi .
The couples were Lance Corporal Bahtiyar Bacho and Mashitah Mansor; Lance Corporal Rizwan Anuar Zakaria and Nurshiffa Azemi; Lance Corporal Azrul Azman Asmawi and Nurul Shuhada Nordin; Lance Corporal Mohd Ridzuan Abd Halim and Maslinda Masturi; and, Constable Nik Mohd Shahafiz Nik Danya and Norhafizah Ishak.
Upon arriving at the Salak Selatan train station, the couples took a 50m bicycle ride to the police station. Azrul probably spoke for all five couples when he said their wedding would be unforgettable.
"Normally the bride and the bridegroom will berarak near their house, but in our case we rode the LRT. We will surely never forget this moment," he said.
