'Robin Lim' his latest nickname

BUKIT MERTAJAM: Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has been given many nicknames by his critics from Penang Barisan Nasional. The latest is "Robin Lim".

State Umno liaison committee deputy chairman Datuk Musa Sheikh Fadzir said he gave Lim the name because he was the opposite of Robin Hood, the English folk hero.

While Robin Hood stole from the rich to give to the poor, he said Lim did the reverse.

"Lim took state land belonging to the rakyat and sold them to private companies to be developed into luxury projects. It is like robbing the poor to give to the rich," Musa said at his Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house, near here, on Sunday.

Musa questioned why state- and council-owned land was being sold to private companies by the DAP-led state government.

He said the land should have been saved for uses that benefited the people, especially low-cost housing projects for low-income earners.

Penang BN has been criticising Lim and his administration in recent months over the sale of 0.4ha land in Taman Manggis, George Town. It was previously earmarked as a People Housing Project (PPR) when BN was in power.

Last year, Lim was also slammed for selling Penang Development Corporation's land in Bayan Mutiara to a developer.
