ROBBERY-CUM-MURDER: Cops looking for victim's colleague, who has gone missing with six money bags, pumpgun

TAIPING: A security van driver was found dead while six money bags, containing an undisclosed amount of cash, have gone missing in a  robbery-cum-murder  incident in Jalan Tekah, Assam Kumbang, here, yesterday.

The victim, Hasnul Hafis Saad, 28, was shot several times in the back and was believed to have been killed at the scene.

Police are now looking for Hasnul's colleague who they believed escaped with the six money bags and a pumpgun.

Taiping police chief Assistant Commissioner Yusuf Mohd Diah said Hasnul was found slumped in the driver's seat by cops and officials from Safeguards Securicor Sdn Bhd, the security company.

He said an all-points-bulletin was sent out for the van in the afternoon after it had missed a scheduled stop.

The search party was then informed that the van was found parked along Jalan Tekah.

"We found Hasnul slumped in the driver's seat while several money bags, a pumpgun and the second security guard was missing.

"The missing guard's handphone was also switched off."

Yusuf added that police have not ruled out the possibility that the incident was an inside job and were now looking for the suspect to assist in the investigation.

"There was no sign of a forced entry from the outside of the van," Yusuf said, adding that another seven money bags were left intact.

Yusuf said during the time of the incident, Hasnul and his colleagues were in the van.

They were en route to replenish automated teller machines.

Police were informed by the security company that the van had veered off its normal route.

"They were not supposed to have been on that stretch."

Police are looking for Mohd Hafizuddin Zainal Abidin, 25, to assist in the investigations.

Hafizuddin is also known as "Pak Din".

Those with information on his whereabouts are urged to contact the nearest police station.
