MERDEKA DAY CAMPAIGN: Tell your heartfelt stories, memorable events and win prizes

PETALING JAYA: WHAT does it mean to be a Malaysian? Media Prima Bhd yesterday launched the #MYSyg (read as Hashtag My Sayang) campaign in conjunction with the 55th Merdeka Day celebrations to allow people to share their stories of memorable moments as Malaysians.

The campaign was jointly launched by Media Prima chairman Datuk Johan Jaaffar and group managing director Datuk Amrin Awaluddin at Sri Pentas.

Johan said Malaysians had many wonderful untold stories.

"Every Malaysian has his own story to share. It doesn't matter how old you are and where you are at the moment. Let us help you tell your story to the whole world.

"Besides flying the Jalur Gemilang, let's inculcate the Merdeka spirit by taking part in #MYSyg."

Amrin said the campaign was a way for Media Prima to support local creative contents.

"Media Prima reaches 24 million viewers on a daily basis. Your stories will be featured nationwide and globally."

Malaysians can submit their entries via video, text or photographs at www.mysyg.com.my.

Video submissions should not be more than three minutes while texts should not be more than 150 words. Creative and unique photographs with captions are also welcome.

Five finalists from each category will be selected and will go through public voting, which accounts for 70 per cent of the assessment. Appointed professional judges are at 30 per cent.

There will be a winner for each category and an overall winner.

Amrin said prizes would be announced at a later date.

The #MYSyg campaign was conceived by Media Prima New Media and Integrated Marketing general manager Lam Swee Kim and Media Prima Radio chief executive officer Seelan Paul.

Malaysians can start submitting their entries from today until August 15. Winners will be announced on Sept 15.

More information is available from the #MYSyg website, www.mysyg.com.my.
