SHAH ALAM: More than 1,000 people attended the Media Prima Bhd European Championship viewing party at the Space U8 Eco-shopping Mall early yesterday.

The event, which was held in conjunction with yesterday's semi-final clash between Germany and Italy, began at 8pm on Thursday.

Various booths and activities were held until the actual start of the match at 2.45am.

People converged on the many booths with sponsors such as Maxis, AirAsia, Coca-Cola and Mr Potato, along with Media Prima's television networks TV3, NTV7, 8TV and TV9 organising games, trivia, futsal tournaments and lucky draws for them.

Visitors were also entertained by the performances of local artistes, including Estranged and Caroline, along with local freestyle-footballers displaying their skills.

Media Prima television networks chief executive officer Ahmad Izham Omar said the company was proud to present the tournament to the public, being the second largest in football after the World Cup.

"We are proud to present the tournament on our networks after being given the seal of approval by UEFA to air it live for our football fans to enjoy," he said.

The "Viewing Party" with its theme "Real Fans Real Football" was made for football fanatics in the Klang Valley, beginning with the screening of the Euro 2012 tournament opening match on June 8 and the semi-final match, early today.

The event will conclude with the finals live on Sunday at the Red Carpet Avenue, The Strand, Kota Damansara, Kuala Lumpur.
