Wan Azizah, Shamsidar told to tell the truth

KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail must come clean about her husband Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s alleged affair with Shamsidar Taharin, the wife of the party’s deputy president, Azmin Ali.

Noraini Abd Khalil Saferi, national director of  Jaringan Melayu Malaysia (JMM), a non-governmental organisation,   urged Dr Wan Azizah to stop misleading the public.

“She must come clean about all the talk on her husband. Now that the Bersih rally, which PKR had banked on to channel  the attention of the public away from Anwar’s moral issues, has not proved fruitful in their favour, Dr Wan Azizah can explain about the alleged affair between Anwar and Shamsidar.”

Noraini said Dr Wan Azizah and Shamsidar must come together and hold a joint press conference.

“This is necessary to explain the allegations made by Malaysian United Indian Party (MUIP) president Datuk S. Nallakaruppan,” said Noraini.

Noraini said as PKR president, Dr Wan Azizah reserves  due right to summon Shamsidar to be present for the “joint press conference”.

“She (Dr Wan Azizah) can also demand that Shamsidar  furnish her with a detailed explanation as to what had really transpired between Anwar and her, and if Shamsidar is shy to explain it orally, she can always make a written statement,” Noraini said yesterday, Dr Wan Azizah could not be reached for comments.
