JOHOR BARU: A multi-component party district voters' centre is now open in Taman Maju Jaya, with the aim to serve Barisan Nasional voters.

The centre, which is represented by the various BN component parties, such as Umno, MCA, MIC and Gerakan, will among others, allow voters to check where they would be voting.

"It is normal to find an operation room run by Umno or MCA, but this centre welcomes anyone regardless of which party in BN they support.

"Voters can drop by at the centre to check where they will cast their vote," said operations room chief John Cheah in his speech.

Cheah, who is also Johor Baru MCA public complaints bureau chairman, will also oversee the entire administration of voters in the Tanjung Puteri and Stulang constituencies.

Tanjung Puteri and Stulang will have 20 and 17 voting centres respectively.

The centre will operate from 7pm to 10pm daily.

Johor Baru member of parliament Tan Sri Shahrir Samad, who declared the centre open, said he was happy to see the five BN component parties working together.

"This centre truly embraces the 1Malaysia concept and this is the way to show youths the way forward."

Present were Stulang assemblyman Mok Chek Hou and Johor Baru MCA public complaints bureau deputy chairman Michael Tay.
