ESCALATING RIFT: Call by PKR information chief to suspend aide rejected

SHAH ALAM: WITH such terms as "anti-Faekah faction" and "Azmin camp" entering the Selangor political lexicon, Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim yesterday  leapt to the defence of Faekah Husin, who has been described as "embattled".

The escalating rift or proxy war between the menteri besar and Azmin could potentially undermine PKR's hold of the Pakatan-ruled state ahead of the general election.

Faekah had allegedly written a letter of support for her relative's law firm to be in a state government-linked company's legal panel, using the menteri besar's letterhead, igniting calls for her removal.

"As for now, the status quo remains that there is no offence," Khalid said after presenting prizes at the Foo Kok Keong Cup Badminton tournament here yesterday.

Khalid, who said he too had written such letters, said the issue would be investigated.

He rejected call by PKR information chief Shuhaimi Shafiei to suspend Faekah.

Sources belonging to the "anti-Faekah faction" had this week spoken of moves to demand for Khalid's political secretary to be removed.
