ALOR STAR: The Pas-led state government's plan to take legal action against Kedah Gerakan Youth chief Tan Keng Liang over his remarks on the proposed ruling on housing project is proof that the opposition cannot handle criticism.

MCA vice-president Datuk Seri Chor Chee Heung said it was typical for the opposition to slap their detractors with an action similar to a gag order to hide their weaknesses.

Chor, who is also housing and local government minister, said this after handing RM325,000 in allocation to 95 federal village development and security committees in the state, here, yesterday.

He was asked to comment on Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azizan Abdul Razak's plan to take action under the Official Secret Act 1972 against Tan for criticising the Pas administration over the proposed policy on housing development projects.

Tan had taken the state government to task over its plan to raise the low-cost and affordable homes quota in a housing project to 60 per cent.

He also expressed concern over the proposed ban on outsiders to buy properties in Kuala Muda and Kulim districts.
