The victim, Nur Ain Natasya Rosaidi, was a student at Sekolah Kebangsaan Peramu Jaya.
Pahang Fire and Rescue Department public relations officer Anuar Hassan said Nur Ain had left her house at 5.30pm in search of her sibling.
"While looking for her sibling, who was actually sleeping at home, she met her friends who were playing near the swamp area.
"(At some point, she) slipped and fell into the swamp, which is about four metres deep," he said.
Villagers heard Nur Ain’s screams, and immediately rushed to rescue her.
"She was unconscious when they recovered her from the swamp. She was pronounced dead by a health officer at the Pekan Hospital," Anuar added.
