MIRI: Fifteen families have been left homeless following a pre-dawn blaze at a squatter area in Kampung Muhibbah, Kuala Baram, near here early today.
No one was injured when fire destroyed all 15 houses in the 2am incident.
A total of 10 firefighters in one fire engine and a water tanker from the Lopeng Fire and Rescue Station were deployed to the village, located about 25km away.
A state Fire and Rescue spokesman said the team, which reached the area about 30 minutes after receiving the distress call, took about three hours to put out the fire completely.
"The team was facing difficulty in getting water supply from the fire hydrants when they were trying to put out the blaze," he added.
