KUALA LUMPUR: Nicol David ended a PSA Tour title drought of 15 months by winning the Ciudad de Floridablanca tournament in Colombia on Saturday.

The former World No 1 defeated American Olivia Blatchford 11-3, 11-4, 11-8 for her first title, and the 81st of her career, since winning the Hong Kong Open in Dec 2015.

With the match taking place in an open-air glass court, World No 7 Nicol had to wait out a weather delay when play was suspended at 6-6 in the third game.

However, eight-time world champion Nicol returned after the 30-minute disruption to successfully see out the closing stages for her third win over the unseeded Blatchford in as many meetings.

Nicol now heads to the British Open, a tournament she last won in 2014, on Mar 22-26 in Hull, where she will attempt to win it for a sixth time.
