GEORGE TOWN: The magistrate's court here today granted a week-long remand order against two policemen, including an Inspector, as part of a probe into an alleged graft case.

The remand order against the duo, aged 32 and 33, was granted by deputy registrar Ahmad Tajudin Zain.

The two were remanded to assist investigations under Section 17 (a) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009.

In a statement, Penang MACC said the two are believed to have accepted bribes as inducement against taking action on a ketum seller.

The Inspector was detained in Raub, Pahang while the other, a corporal, was detained in Penang yesterday.
