Hari Pahlawan Appeal Fund collected RM96,000

    Melacca: The state's Hari Pahlawan Appeal Fund, which was launched yesterday, successfully collected nearly RM96,000 from donations from 10 state government agencies and two corporations.

    Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam said the state  government donated RM50,000 towards the fund which  would be used to help the veterans.

    He said the fundraising campaign was one of the ways for  the state government and agencies to show their gratitude for  the services and sacrifices made by the former military and  police personnel.

    "We are prepared to provide help for their welfare," he said  at the launch by the Yang Di Pertua of Malacca Tun Mohd  Khalil Yaakob at Seri Negeri near here today.

    At the launch, the Malacca Development Corporation   donated RM10,000 while the Malacca Islamic Religion De partment , Malacca Historical City Council , Menara Taming  Sari, Syarikat Air Melaka Bhd, Telekom Malaysia each  donated RM5,000.

    The Hang Tuah Jaya Municipal Council, the Melaka Tengah  district office and Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka also  donated RM2,000 each while the Jasin Municipal Council  and  Alor Gajah Municipal Council donated RM1,000.

    Ali also urged other Malaysians to help contribute towards  the fund.
