EARTHQUAKE WARNING: They are acts of God, so why worry so much
I WOULD like to give my views on the article "Expert warning: Massive earthquakes predicted 'at any time'" that appeared last week.
The Mayans had also predicted that the end of the world would be on Dec 21 this year. How is it possible for anyone to predict earthquakes and tsunamis?
They are "acts of God" which cannot be predicted by mere mortals, even those highly educated in geology and volcanology.
I agree with Dr Mohd Rosaidi Che Abas, senior director of the Meteorological Department of Malaysia, that any massive earthquake in Sumatra or Java would affect Peninsular Malaysia because of our close proximity but this does not mean that the end of the world is nigh.
We should just continue to live peacefully and harmoniously.
