UMNO ELECTION: 7 divisions in Perak to see contest for top posts

KUALA KANGSAR: At least seven Umno divisions in Perak - Kuala Kangsar, Sungai Siput, Bukit Gantang, Batu Gajah, Tanjung Malim, Larut and Parit Buntar - will see contest for the top posts in the party divisional elections next month.

As at 10.30am today, incumbent Datuk Ramly Zahari will be challenged by Datuk Wan Khairil Anuar Wan Ahmad for the Kuala Kangsar Umno chief post while incumbent Bukit Gantang chief Datuk Rosli Husin will be challenged by Datuk Syed Abu Hussin Hafis Syed Abdul Fasal.

Datuk Seri Raja Ahmad Zainuddin Raja Omar (Larut) will be challenged by Datuk Daud Mohd Yusoff, Datuk Mohd Khusairi Abdul Talib (Tanjung Malim) to be challenged by Shukor Ahmad while Datuk Mohd Yusoff Kassim (Batu Gajah) will be challenged by Ibrahim Mohd Zain.

Talk is rife at the nomination centre here that Datuk Seri Mohammed Nazri Abdul Aziz will be challenged by Padang Rengas Umno treasurer Datuk Jamal Nasir Rasdi for the division top post.

Datuk Hamzah Zainuddin is expected to file his nomination to contest the Larut Umno division chief later today.

Nominations are being carried out at the Dewan Jubli Perak here until 5pm today.
