GOVERNMENT PROGRAMMES: PM has kept promises to Indians
PRIME Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, who was interviewed recently on Tamil radio station THR Raaga, said he wanted the Indian community to integrate fully into the mainstream of economic development.
The Indian community is seeing and experiencing the winds of change and a change in the attitude of the government towards it.
In the past three years, the government has allocated RM440 million to improve 523 Tamil schools, many of which are in a deplorable state.
It is good to note that recently, Indian students who achieved outstanding results in their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia examination were offered scholarships.
These and other goodies that the prime minister has given to the Indian community show that he has kept his promise.
More job opportunities should be made available to Indians in the civil service and government- linked companies.
