THE Nayati kidnap shocked the nation. Everyone, regardless of race and religion, came together to pray for him. We kept our differences aside and hoped that he returned to his family safe.
Nayati Shamelin Moodliar, 12, was kidnapped at 7.35am on April 27 while walking to his school. He was released at a rest area at the North-South Expressway on Thursday.
I wanted to write something for Wesak Day, but I was too sad to pen anything as my heart was so heavy and worried for this poor boy.
Each time after my solat, I would pray to Allah for the well-being of everyone, the world and my family. But when Nayati was kidnapped, I prayed only for him and begged Allah to protect him. I believe everyone prayed for him in their respective religions.
Nayati taught us that we are bound together by the divine love that we all possess, that is why we were so affected. It felt like it happened to a family member.
Let us keep this love lighted in us. To Nayati, I am so happy for you and you're a hero.
