NO SMOKING: Smokers throw butts everywhere and anywhere
WHILE walking back to my workplace recently, something small fell from above a multi-storey car park and landed in front of me.
I looked down to see what it was and it turned out to be a cigarette butt. I suspected an inconsiderate motorist threw it from the car park above.
I looked up to see who the culprit was, but there was no one. I am certain the smoker knew there were people below, but yet he did not care.
The cigarette butt could have landed on my head had I been a step faster.
Smokers have a reputation for being the worst litterbugs and they should not be let off scot-free for littering, if caught by City Hall enforcement officers.
They throw their cigarette butts everywhere and anywhere they please.
My nephew in Singapore told me that smokers there are a disciplined lot. They will smoke only in areas designated for smoking and they will never throw their cigarette butts indiscriminately.
They will always look for trash bins to dispose of cigarette butts. If there is none available, they will hold on to them until they find one. Malaysian smokers should emulate the civic-minded Singaporean smokers.
