CULTURE and arts should be given priority as a promotional tool to enhance the branding of not only Petronas but also the nation.
Petronas should champion the preservation, development and promotional aspects of arts and culture. It has positioned itself as the biggest GLC, one the nation is proud of.
At the same time, it needs to understand how to have a balance of mind and soul.
Petronas should have done more with Petronas Performing Arts group (PPAG). It should have carried out the same planning and strategies as it did to the development of the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra.
Closing the PPAG, for me, is like taking away the most important part of its being and image.
The PPAG can be its "ambassador" to show and promote the beauty of Malaysia through arts and culture at the international level. Petronas should allocate more funds to promote arts and culture as its branding tools, as it does to the Formula One.
Petronas should emerge as the icon that cares about the development of local performing arts through PPAG, not close it down.
It seems the people who wish to close PPAG really need to be educated to appreciate arts and culture, especially the concept, history and philosophical aspects of it.
