UTILITIES: Street lights not in tune with TNB drive

I READ Tenaga Nasional Berhad's tip for the day in its public campaign to conserve energy daily.

However, I often find that the street lights where I live, Jalan Beka, are left switched on from the night and not turned off throughout the day. They are on even until the following morning. The same goes for the lights along Jalan Batai Utara and Jalan Birah.

Since the start of the year, I have observed that several street lights in Damansara Heights are left on day and night, particularly in Jalan Semantan which borders Pusat Bandar Damansara.

On the other hand, the street lights that are usually not turned on at night are at the crossroads of Jalan Johar and Jalan Beringin. Another stretch is in Jalan Beringin, which is adjacent to Jalan Setiakasih, a night joggers' favourite route. It has since been avoided because of a lack of proper lighting.

If you were to drive around the neighbourhood on any particular night, you will find many such instances. I hope TNB will do a thorough check daily until a simple and permanent solution is found, particularly in light of its ongoing campaign to conserve energy.

Tenaga Nasional Berhad must ensure all street lights are switched on or off according to the designated hours to conserve energy.
