KUALA LUMPUR: A Workers Day rally organised by the National Union of Bank Employees (NUBE) and several non-governmental organisation in the city today to voice workers' rights and demands failed to attract crowds.

Only 500 people, which is a far cry from the organisers' target of 2,000 participants, took part in the rally.

The rally began at 10am when the participants marched from Central Market to Maybank Tower, Puduraya.

In front of Maybank Tower, the participants, mostly clad in a red-coloured shirt, also sang a few songs and staged a performance about the history of world's workers' movement.

They also distributed to the public brochures on workers' rights and demands, including the rights of foreign and female workers.
About 20 policemen monitored the rally which lasted two hours. -- BERNAMA
