NEW MOVEMENT: Green makes the headline at ECO-B, Malaysia’s first Eco Building and Design Exhibition taking place at this year’s ARCHIDEX (International Architecture, Interior Design and Building Exhibition)
Green is in the details of this year’s 13th edition of Malaysia’s ARCHIDEX (International Architecture, Interior Design and Building Exhibition) as ECO-B makes its debut. ECO-B, co-located with ARCHIDEX will also be held from 4 to 7 July 2012 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. Both the exhibitions, jointly organised by the Malaysian Institute of Architects (PAM) and C.I.S Network Sdn Bhd will be held in conjunction with PAM’s Kuala Lumpur
Architecture Festival (KLAF) 2012.
Undisputedly one of the region’s most important trade event for the built and design industry, ARCHIDEX represents an important international networking event for the trade involving the participation of architects, interior designers, developers and industry professionals from over 50 countries.
As sustainable buildings and practices have become a concern and important factor in today’s built and design environment, the new exhibition on ECO-B will showcase elementary products and solutions to address this issue. Sustainable design has emerged as a guiding paradigm in the creation of a new kind of built environment, one that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
ECO-B will showcase new eco building materials that will bring about a realistic change for Asian societies by paving the way for a more sustainable future. ECO-B will be located at Hall 6 of the Convention Centre, allowing industry professionals to meet the green experts while discovering the latest materials, technologies and practices at this four-day long exhibition.
To give added boost to the green effort – besides its New Product Award, ARCHIDEX will also be presenting the Green New Product Awards for eco-friendly products nominated by exhibitors.
In total, 56 products submitted by 38 companies will vie for the awards. All nominated products showcased by the exhibitors will be evaluated by a panel of judges during the exhibition.
ARCHIDEX 2012 will see two exhibitions spread across a total of eight halls in the Convention Centre with 1,100 booths represented by over 450 companies from 11 countries. There will also be four international conferences and forums by over 20 speakers from 11 countries with a targeted participation of over 5,000 delegates. Besides ARCHIDEX 2012 and ECO-B, the Designers’ Day will be held on 5 July, the Architects’ Day on 6 July followed by the Building Industry Gala Night (BIG Nite) as well as Architectural Tours.
A key forum in the Tropical and Sub-tropical Green Building Alliance Conference 2012 (TSGBA 2012) will be held concurrently with the Green Building Forum 2012 on the 4 and 5 July 2012 at the Convention Centre.
“This is the third of a continuing series of annual conferences that address issues related to Green Buildings
in tropical and sub-tropical regions of the world. The first conference was held in Shenzhen, China in 2010 and the second in Singapore in 2011. The Malaysia Green Building Confederation (MGBC) won the right to host this third conference for 2012,” shares Ar. Chan Seong Aun who is the third TSGBA organising chairman.
“The main aim of these conferences is to bring together the leading innovators of Green Buildings in the tropical regions to talk about their innovative works and to promote networking among the Green Building Councils (GBC) around the region. So far, eight regional GBC presidents and their representatives have accepted our invitations to attend this conference,” he adds.
According to him, TSGBA is targetting over 1,200 people for the conference with at least 10 to 20 percent made up of foreign participants. To date, approximately 60 China GBC delegates have registered for the group bookings. TSGBA is embracing the theme “Naturally Tropical, Truly Innovative”.
