PLANNING AHEAD: Planning your visit early is a wise decision as thousands are expected to attend the four-day event starting 4 July at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre
Excitement is building up as the final preparations are being put in place for the opening of ARCHIDEX/ ECO-B exhibitions, international conferences and forums as well as industry meetings, business gatherings,
awards and gala night that will all take place under one roof from 4 to 7 July. Architects will also be able to get CPD Points while increasing their learning experiences and exposure to the latest products relevant to their respective industries. Already, 32,000 visitors from over 50 countries with 10,000 comprising architects, interior designers and developers are expected to throng the Kuala Lumpur Convention
A key event highlight of the Kuala Lumpur Architectural Festival (KLAF) 2012 is the 13th International Architecture, Interior Design and Building Exhibition, Malaysia famously known by the acronym ARCHIDEX 2012. Jointly organised by the Malaysian Institute of Architects (PAM) and C.I.S Network Sdn Bhd, ARCHIDEX is widely acknowledged as the region’s leading trade event for the built and design industry.
This year’s exhibition will witness double the excitement with the addition of ECO-B, the first Malaysia Eco Building and Design Exhibition 2012 being co-located with ARCHIDEX 2012 making its appearance. The forward-thinking exhibition will showcase sustainable products for the built and design industry in line with preserving the environment for future generations.
Both ARCHIDEX and ECO-B will occupy eight halls spread across 193,750 sq ft of floor space that will see over 450 exhibitors from over 10 countries displaying their products at the 1,100 exhibition booths.
“Based on past years’ ARCHIDEX exhibitions, we advise participants and attendees to plan ahead and arrive early to make the most of the exhibition. Use alternative routes or modes of transportation and if possible, park nearby and use the new Bukit Bintang-KLCC Pedestrian Walkway,” advices Vincent Lim, president of C.I.S Network. Besides the exhibitions, four international conferences and forums will also take place with over 20 speakers from 11 countries
attracting over 5,000 delegates.
ARCHIDEX 2012 is also held concurrently with other events brought together by PAM this July in the city including the PAM Convention 2012, the Tropical Subtropical Green Building Alliance Conference (TSGBA) on 4 and 5 July held alongside with the Green Building Forum (GBF), the Kuala Lumpur Design Forum (KLDF) on 5 July and the International Architectural Design Forum in DATUM: KL 2012 that will see international speakers talking on the theme “Roots” on 6 and 7 July.
Worthy of mention are some of the event highlights as well as networking sessions that will take place including the TSGBA Alliance Night on 3 July and the Green Biz Eco Trade Talks that will take place from 4 to 7 July. A specially designated Designers’ Day will be celebrated on 5 July. Architects’ Day meanwhile will unfold on 6 July with selected participating exhibitors holding receptions at their booths. Invitation to these receptions that run from 3pm to 6pm on both days will be open to architects and interior designers.
Besides the illustrious line-up of events, awards presentations will be held for the ARCHIDEX New Product
Awards and Green New Product Awards. There will also be a panel display
of the PAM Architectural Awards 2012 exhibition and another panel display
exhibition of the PAM – Tan Sri Ar. Chan Sau Lai Architecture Award. The GBI Certified Green Building Display
besides the Swiss Positions: 33 Exhibition are other highlights while the BIG (Building Industry Gala Night – OLYMBIG) will take place on 6 July. Architectural Tours will also be conducted
on 8 July.

Visitor Registration: Visitors who have pre-registered on-line will receive a Visitor Tag Number. They are advised to bring this along as with this number, one can self-check-in at designated kiosks at the convention centre and can print the Visitor Tag to enter the halls.
