ON a day of few glittering performances, Penang's Zaidatul Husna Zulkifli lit up the Paroi Stadium track with the fastest sprint by a Malaysian woman this year in winning the 100m at the Negri Sembilan Open yesterday.

Just a day after winning the Malaysian 1st Grand Prix, Zaidatul Husna improved on her run of 11.95 seconds in Bukit Jalil to clock 11.87 for the fastest time unaided by wind in Malaysia this year.

Zaidatul Husna, 19, finished ahead of national runner Siti Zubaidah Adabi (12.10) and twin sister Zaidatul Husniah (12.13).

Firdaus Mazalan ran a decent time of 53.91 seconds to win the men's 400m hurdles while Iskandar Alwi of Johor's SMK Tun Hussein Onn grabbed the pole vault title after clearing 4.60m.

Iskandar finished ahead of Labuan's Fahme Zamzam, who could not replicate his national indoor record setting performance of 4.61m in Taiwan two months ago after managing a best of 4.40.
