ATHLETICS: Olympic champ Taylor takes Budapest crown
BUDAPEST: Freshly crowned Olympic triple jump champion Christian Taylor of the United States secured another victory on Monday with a jump of 17.30 metres at a meeting in Budapest.
Taylor, who registered a 17.81m jump in the Olympic final in London, had tasted success at a Diamond League event in Stockholm on Friday with an attempt measuring 17.11m.
Of the other Olympic medallists present in the Hungarian capital, America's Jason Richardson, a silver-medallist in the 110m hurdles in London, won his race in 13.15s.
Richardson's compatriot Sanya-Richards-Ross, the Olympic champion over 400m, decided to line up in the 200m but still romped home in a time of 22.70s.
Home favourite Krisztian Pars, meanwhile, followed up his Olympic hammer gold medal by triumphing with a throw of 79.74m.
Kenyan's Timothy Kitum, who claimed bronze in the 800m, struggled to victory over the same distance in a time of 1:45.39s. AFP
