BOWLING: Dragon-Yam take doubles crown

ADRIAN Dragon teamed up with Jason Yam to win the men's doubles gold at the 26th Asian Inter-City Bowling Championship at the Sunshine Square Premium Lanes Bowling Alley in Bayan Baru yesterday.

Dragon, the newly crowned Penang Open champion, and Yam, the Pahang Malaysia Games mixed-doubles gold medallist, defied all odds to run away with the win against more fancied Asian bowlers.

Representing George Town, the pair, in the absence of the country's more established bowlers, knocked down a combined total of 2,716 pins to grab gold in the six-game event.

Hong Kong's Lau Kwun Ho and Chan Yat Long took the silver with a 2,649 score while Macau's Lam Lek Long and Lee Tak Man settled for the bronze.
