WORLD champion Jacqueline Jenelee Sijore and Zandra Aziela Ibrahim Hakimi have advanced to step two of the final stage at the Track Dream-Bowl Palace Open in Munich yesterday.
Jacqueline, the 42nd ranked qualifier, turned in an improved performance to post lines of 238, 245, 194, 222 for a four-game total of 931 (including 32 bonus pins), averaging 232.75 to finish fifth in step one, which comprised 32 bowlers.
Zandra Aziela was not at her best but she made it through by finishing 13th on 892 (including 32 bonus pins) to make the top-16 step two cut.
Compatriot Syafiq Ridhwan earned a direct entry into step three after he finished fourth in the qualifying round on Saturday.
Syafiq, a former national champion, posted a six-game total of 1,425 pinfalls to finish behind Colombia's Clara Guerrero (1,436), England's Paul Moor (1,429) and the United States' Sean Rash (1,426).
"Jacqueline and Zandra are progressing but they need to bowl better as it will get tougher as the tournament progresses," said team manager Cheah Ban Cheng before the bowlers were due to play in step two late yesterday in Munich.
The bowlers are using the tournament as a warm-up for the European Bowling Tour (EBT) Masters, which starts today, at the same venue.
