DATUK Dr P.S. Nathan will likely retain the Malaysian Tenpin Bowling Congress (MTBC) president's post for a 19th term at the congress' annual general meeting-cum-elections on Oct 14.

Nathan, 77, who is known for his no-nonsense approach in administrating the congress, is also the founder of the organisation.

According to Article 7 of the MTBC constitution, only the deputy and vice-presidents, who have completed two terms before submission of nominations for the coming election, are allowed to contest the presidency.

The article also states that all nominations for the president, deputy president, vice-president and honorary treasurer's posts must be submitted to the secretary in writing not less than 14 days before the election date.

The deputy president is Tan Sri Mohd Noor while the vice-presidents are George Heng (senior vice-president), Cheah Ban Cheng, Kenny Yap, Maradona Chok Khong Yau and Salim Muda.

Ban Cheng, George, Kenny and Maradona are eligible to contest for the top post.

Acting secretary Ban Cheng said nominations for elected posts (president, deputy, treasurer, and four vice-presidents) will close on Oct 1.

On whether Sidney, who suffered a stroke seven months ago, will remain as appointed secretary, Ban Cheng said it will be decided at the AGM. By Ajitpal Singh
