THE Project 2013 squad played seven matches in Europe, winning three and losing four in their preparation for next year's Junior World Cup.

The tour started in Poland where they were edged 3-2 by the Polish senior side. Both Project 2013 goals were scored by Rashid Baharom.

Coach K. Dharmaraj had left out some of his more experienced players like Firhan Ashaari and Fitri Saari to make way for new faces after the gold medal run in the Junior Asia Cup.

This was to blood new players for the New Delhi Junior World Cup in November next year as many players from the gold medal-winning side would be overaged for New Delhi.

Project 2013 then lost 6-1 to Poland seniors with their third defeat coming in a 2-0 loss to Sroda HC, before moving to Spain for more matches.

In Spain, they beat France 3-1 with goals from Zulhairi Hashim, Syamim Yusof and Faiz Helmi Jali, but then lost 4-1 to Spain Juniors with only Baharom getting his name on the score sheet. But there was a better performance against France Juniors where Shazril Imran, Syamim Yusof and Izad Hakimi Jamaluddin scored in a 3-2 win.

Their most impressive match was against Dutch Division One club MHC Beuningen who they beat 8-0 with goals from Kavin Kartik, Baharom (two), Fariq Saadon, Azwar Rahman, Syamin Yusof, Izad Hakimi and Shazrul Imran. By Jugjet Singh
