Langkawi Tourism Blueprint to have additional initiative

LANGKAWI: The Langkawi Tourism Blueprint steering committee today unanimously agreed to add another initiative in the action plan which will focus on ferry services to the island.

Its chairman Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop, who is also Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, noted there had been many complaints regarding fares and service quality.

"Statistics show tourists mainly use the ferry to get to Langkawi. Besides the jetty in Kuah, the focus will also be on the jetties in Kuala Perlis and Kuala Kedah," he told reporters after chairing the committee's first meeting at the Langkawi Development Authority complex here today.

He said to ensure smooth implementation of the initiatives, the committee will meet four times a year.
