MOHD Fitri Ashraf Razali's racing career is going great guns after being given the chance to ride a SuperSports 600cc machine prior to Round 3 of the Petronas Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) at the Zhuhai International Circuit in China this weekend.
Fitri, who competes in the Asia Dream Cup (ADC), rode the menacing Honda CBR600RR during a test session at the Sepang Circuit last month a week before seniors Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman, Mohd Emir Firdaus Hasan and Mohd Zaqhwan Zaidi took off to Japan for the 35th Coca-Cola Zero Suzuka 8-Hour Endurance Road Race last weekend.
Also at the test was Sasitharen Sukumaran who rides alongside Fitri in the ADC.
Such opportunities are hard to come by for riders as young as Fitri who has only been riding professionally for four years but his rapid progress in the Petronas AAM Malaysian Cub Prix convinced the team management that the 17-year-old is worthy of the try out.
"It has always been my dream to ride a 600cc machine but I did not expect the opportunity to come this soon, so I'm really happy."
Fitri hopes to capitalise on the chance in the upcoming ARRC round of the Asia Dream Cup and improve his current ninth position in the overall standings.
