MOTORCYCLING: Azlan serves a surprise

AZLAN Shah Kamaruzaman took his contenders by surprise when he bagged his first pole position for the season in the SuperSports 600cc class of the Petronas Asia Road Racing Championship at the Sentul International Circuit in Indonesia yesterday.

The Musashi Boon Siew Honda Racing rider earned the right to start today's race on pole after posting one minute 30.527 seconds on his 15th lap while teammate, Ryuichi Kiyonari took second spot.

Completing the front row was SuperSports 600cc defending champion, Katsuaki Fujiwara (Manual Tech BEET Kawasaki Racing).
