MOTORCYCLING: Brothers from Japan to ride for Pachie Yuzy
PACHIE Yuzy Honda Racing have confirmed a three-man line-up for the Underbone 115cc category, two of which will be taken up by Japanese brothers Ren Toba and Kaito Toba in Round 2 of the Petronas Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) at the Sentul International Circuit, Indonesia this weekend.
Ren will fill the void left by Wan Hadri Wan Mukhtar who will be making his pilgrimage to Mecca, while 11-year-old Kaito will be making a second appearance in the unique Asian heritage class following a commendable debut in the opening round at the Sepang International Circuit last month.
Taking the lead will be Malaysia's Mohd Amirul Ariff Musa, who has shown vast improvements in the national Petronas AAM Malaysian Cub Prix where he has won twice -- in Kangar (Round 3) and Teluk Intan (Round 5) -- from five rounds. The 22-year-old also did the team proud to finish Race 2 of the opening leg on the podium and is currently fourth on the Underbone 115cc points chart with 26 points.
Team manager Shahrol Yuzy Ahmad Zaini, elaborating on his decision to bring the Japanese brothers into the Pachie Yuzy Honda Racing's ranks, said: "Ren and Kaito were initially supposed to take turns racing in the Underbone class and their schedule would revolve around Ren's commitments in the All-Japan Championship or any other national championships that he is racing in back home.
"But for Round 2, as it so happens, our team's other regular rider, Wan Hadri, will be making his pilgrimage to Mecca.
"The one empty slot in the team dove-tailed nicely with Ren's availability. Both these youngsters have been developing very well and it will be nice to have both brothers racing in Indonesia, which is one of the toughest rounds where the underbone class is concerned."
