ARMED Forces captured their first major title and most prestigious honour to date after claiming the Premier League with a match to spare yesterday.
They thrashed Muar MC 8-1 at the MBPJ Stadium to clinch the title with an unassailable 51 points and earn Super League promotion next season.
Forces' only other title in the M-League was the 1997 FAM Cup.
"I am delighted to help Forces lift their first major title. It is a historic feat for us," said coach B. Sathianathan
"This victory will build our confidence for the Malaysia Cup, where we want to do well.
"We will try to strengthen our squad with players, whose teams fail to qualify for the Malaysia Cup."
Marlon Alex James was in fiery form in the first half, scoring the opener in the ninth minute with a powerful header before adding his second after 22 minutes to take his tally to 16 goals this season.
Christie Jayaseelan netted their third from close range in the 25th minute.
Forces continued to dominate proceedings after the breather as Muar struggled to find their form.
Christie scored his second of the night with a header, off a corner kick, in the 53rd minute for a 4-0 lead.
Muar, however, reduced the deficit through Alafi Mahmud eight minutes later.
Hairudddin Omar scored Forces' fifth goal after playing a perfect one-two with Marlon in the 70th minute before adding his second three minutes later.
Midfielder Bruno Marteloto placed the ball beyond Muar goalkeeper Zainal Rabin for Forces' seventh in the 79th minute.
Substitute Yusaini Hafiz completed the rout in the 89th minute for Forces' biggest win of the season.
