MALAYSIA Yellow marched into the final of the fourth Yamaha Asean Cup Under-13 tournament when they demolished Vietnam 8-0 in their semi-final at the Petaling Jaya Stadium yesterday.
In today's final (kickoff - 4.50pm), Malaysia Yellow will take on champions Thailand, who they beat 2-1 in a group match on Friday. Thailand denied the hosts an all-Malaysian final with a 1-0 win over Malaysia Blue in the the other semi-final.
Thailand were fully stretched by Malaysia Blue before riding on a lucky break to score the winner in the 15th minute through Saharat Khumpub who headed home a rebound off the bar after goalkeeper Aliff Aiman Mazlan misjudged Nakin Wisetchat's freekick.
Malaysia Yellow are represented by Bukit Jalil Sports School while Malaysia Blue are made up of players picked from the recently concluded 1Malaysia Cardiff City Under-12 League.
Nurfais Johari was the star in Malaysia Yellow's win, hitting a hat-trick while Nazirul Hasif Mailang and Khairuddin Mat Yaman scored two each with Arrieffahmi Mohamad Azam hitting one.
