THE rare chance to rubs shoulders with their childhood idols beckons for two lucky winners of the "Be a Super Gunner" contest organised by Arsenal Malaysia and Hong Kong tour promoter Pro Events Group.

Fatin Shafira Abd Fatah, 22, and Zafirah Zakaria, 24, were announced the first round of winners of the competition yesterday and will receive VIP hospitality tickets for Arsenal's matches against the Malaysian national side as well as Hong Kong club Kitchee FC.

Their trip to watch the match in Hong Kong will also be borne by the organisers, which includes five-star hotel accommodation and will also see them receive HKD5,000 cash (RM2,500) each.

The duo were selected by Arsenal FC based on their 15 second video submissions for the contest on why they are Arsenal fans.

"I am a huge Gunners fan and to be chosen by the club itself is a huge honour for me. I can't wait to meet Theo Walcott as I am a big fan of his," said Zafirah, a Management and Science University public relations undergraduate.

"I am really happy to be a winner and knowing that I will be able to watch their matches and meet them is just undescribable," added Fatin Shafira, a Universiti Teknologi Mara law student.

The contest ends on July 1 with another two winners of the contest to be announced then.

Meanwhile, Pro Events Group chief executive officer Julian Kam said public response to Arsenal's match against Malaysia on July 24 has been encouraging with 6,000 tickets already sold.

"Fans realise that this is a different Arsenal team than the side that came last year," said Julian.

"This crop of players helped propel the club to a highly-respectable third spot finish in the Premiership last season and I am sure we will have more fans supporting Arsene Wenger's boys this year."

    Last year's encounter drew a 70,000-strong crowd.
