NUR Shamie Iszuan Amin's second half strike was enough to give Pahang's SMK Seberang Temerloh a well-deserved place in the semi-finals of the Ministry of Education Under-17 Youth League 2012.
Needing to win against Johor's SMK Tun Hussein Onn for a place in the last four, the east coast side pulled out all the stops as they pressured the visitors from the first blow of the whistle.
Despite being presented with a handful of chances, the strike duo of Mohd Azrul Firdaus Kamarul Zaman and Nur Shamie just could not make the early breakthrough until the 41st minute of play when the latter volleyed in the only goal of the game.
"The players delivered what was expected of them which was to book our place in the semi-finals this year," said chief coach Abdul Hadi Mohamad.
"It will be a tough game in the next round where we will take on SMK Tunku Anum (of Kedah). We have to be perfect as they are a strong team and they have been undefeated the whole season."
With the win, SMK Seberang Temerloh will join Group A winners SMK Syed Hassan of Perlis in the next round. The two teams from Group B are SMK Tunku Anum of Kedah and SMK Mutiara Impian.
In the Minister of Education Under-14 League Cup, SMK Seri Titiwangsa of Kuala Lumpur advanced to the last four despite losing 1-0 to SMK Tabuan Jaya of Sarawak in Kuching as they already had an unassailable lead in Group A.
Also through from Group A were defending champions SMK Bukit Nenas of Terengganu.
