21 teams compete in hockey tournament

KUALA LUMPUR: Sentul Sports Club emerged champions to win the George Koshy challenge trophy in the 11th Royal Selangor Club (RSC) hockey nines at its Bukit Kiara sports annexe, recently.

Malaysian Airlines Pilots' Association and RSC became the Plate and Bowl champions, respectively.

Twenty teams, including Diponegoro 80 Indonesia and Jakarta Hockey Club, took part in the two-day competition.

In the junior category, 23 boys and 20 girls teams took part.

SK Bandar Baru Seri Petaling emerged champions in the boys' category after thrashing SK Sri Delima 3-0 in the final.

SK Petaling Perdana and SK Bukit Bandaraya drew 1-1 after full-time in the girls' final before the former edged the latter 3-2 in the penalty shootout to be crowned champions.

Among those present were RSC hockey convener James Sia; RSC vice-president Julie Hoh; its sports chairman Godfrey D'Cruz; Penang Sports Club president Dr S. Shanker; and hockey legends Datuk R. Yogeswaran and Datuk Poon Fook Loke.
