GOAL!:Bandar Seremban Selatan residents get their long-awaited futsal court, thanks to the state government
AFTER years of waiting for a futsal court, residents of Bandar Seremban Selatan (Phase 3B) finally saw their wish fulfilled.
A new court, built at a cost of RM100,000, recently opened nearby. It is being fully utilised by all living nearby, including women, for futsal as well as community activities.
Bandar Seremban Selatan Phase 3B Rukun Tetangga chairman, Shafie Mohd Noor, said the futsal court was greatly welcomed, especially by the youth, who now spend most of their evenings there.
"The younger generation can now spend their free time in healthy activities, which will help them stay clear of vices. It also helps to enhance ties among the people here," he said.
The futsal court was officially opened by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan.
Resident, Normah Rahmat, 40, said the court was used by the women for aerobic exercises.
"We get together weekly for aerobic classes, which has received a good response from women in the area," she said.
Asyraf Luqman Zakaria, 20, said he no longer needed to go to private futsal courts, which charged from RM60 to RM80 per hour.
Mohamad, meanwhile, hoped the residents would make full use and take good care of the court.
"We want more youths to spend their free time on healthy activities and steer clear of immoral and wasteful activities like going to cyber cafes," he said.
