    Bayview Georgetown offers luxurious rooms

    WIDE RANGE:Hotel has just undergone RM11mil refurbishment of 333 rooms ranging from standard to premier suites to suit business travellers and holidaymakers

    BUILT and founded in 1969 by the late Tan Sri Loh Boon Siew, the original block of the Bayview Hotel Georgetown was previously known as Merlin Hotel before he took over the hotel property and began to expand it in 1986.

    Naming it City Bayview Hotel with the island's first and only revolving restaurant then and now, the hotel was subsequently rebranded to Bayview Hotel Georgetown Penang in  2007.

    Strategically located in the heart of George Town, this 16-storey high hotel is near to commercial hub,  food courts,  cafes, shopping malls, entertainment centres, local communities, historic and cultural landmarks of Penang.

    With 333 tastefully decorated rooms and suites that have been recently upgraded or  refurbished  at a cost of RM11 million, the hotel offers a range of room types to suit business clients and leisure holidaymakers. The rooms   include standard room, superior room, deluxe room, grand deluxe room, family room and junior suite while the premier floor has premier deluxe, premier grand deluxe and premier suites.

    All rooms and suites have been repainted and fixed with  new furnishings, new beds, carpets and interior decorations.

    The Premier Floor accommodation has the interior redesigned and restyled to natural earth tones with matching soft linens and the exclusive access to the hotel's new Premier Lounge.

    The 350sq m Premier Lounge that overlooks the spectacular view of the Straits of Malacca is located at the highest floor of the hotel. It offers breakfast, all-day refreshments and afternoon tea, free usage of computer with Internet facilities, reading room, shoe-shine service and private usage of Premier Boardroom with no extra charges.

    The Premier Floor is very popular among frequent business travellers who seek a venue that is suitable to work, relax, rest or even meet and entertain clients.

    As for dining options, there are four food and beverage outlets including the renowned Revolving Restaurant which serves a wide range of buffet dinner spreads of local and international cuisine.  

    Situated at the rooftop level, this restaurant is a landmark of Penang and it offers diners a beautiful view of  George Town, Komtar (Penang's tallest building) and the Penang Bridge (Malaysia's longest).

    The other food and beverage outlets are the newly renovated open-kitchen concept Kopi Tiam Coffee House that offers all-day dining and Waka Japanese Restaurant that serves an authentic variety of Japanese cuisine.

    For music lovers or party-goers, the hotel's Lobby Lounge offers live entertainment after hours while the more vibrant showbiz outlet, Carmen Club, offers a live band alternating with DJ who spins the latest music.

    Another place to unwind, the Sawasdee Spa offers Thai traditional massage and beauty treatment would be a choice venue to get rejuvenated and restored. The roof swimming pool, kids' pool, outdoor jacuzzi and the well-equipped gymnasium are available to those who enjoy outdoor or energetic activities.     The Sri Mas Ballroom can accommodate up 600 persons while the other meeting rooms like the VIP Lounge, Sri Delima, Sri Gangsa, Sri Intan, Sri Perak, Sri Nilam, Sri Mutiara, and Sri Kristal can accommodate smaller groups.
