Colourful fireworks, performances usher in the new year

The countdown at Mutiara Damansara Commercial Centre ended with a spectacular 10-minute fireworks display.

Playing hosts were  popular VJ Joey G of Channel V and international model Fay Hokulani, who kept the crowd entertained with their wit and charm.

The stage lit up with energetic performances by Wakaka Crew, Ice Jammz and Floor Fever, who got the crowd moving during the opening gambit.

Other  artistes included Russell Curtis, Kevin Neon, Senoritas, James Baum, Altimet, Reshmonu and Jaclyn Victor, who closed the show with a mesmerising performance.

The countdown ended with a spectacular, 10-minute fireworks display.

The Curve centre manager, Adele D. Flores, said: "We are pleased to be able to bid farewell to 2011 in such a memorable fashion with our patrons and we wish all a happy and fulfilling 2012.

"This New Year's eve celebration is just the beginning and we are very excited to bring our shoppers bigger and better experiences in the year ahead."

Lee Beng Im of Kuala Lumpur, who came with her husband, brother and sister-in-law to usher in the new year, said they hoped 2012 would bring prosperity and good health to the whole family.

Fairuz Annuar Alias, from Kota Damansara, who came with his wife and children to see the fireworks display, said he would like to see a better education plan for his three children.

"I hope the prime minister would come up with a better education plan to help university graduates start their own businesses," he said.
