KUALA LUMPUR: The Bukit Bandaraya Residents' Association (BBRA) held a fellowship dinner at the Royal Lake Club here recently to foster better ties among residents.
BBRA president Tunku Datuk Zahiah Tunku Sulong said the dinner was part of the association's activities.
"I am happy that we have this dinner as the last one was held three years ago," she added.
Zahiah also said that the association's charity carnival at the Bukit Bandaraya community centre in Jalan Medang Tanduk in May last year was a success.
The association raised RM75,000 from the carnival and channelled the funds to nine charity homes.
She also urged non-member residents to join the association.
"Members are entitled for free usage of the sport facilities at the community centre," she said.
Zahiah also urged the residents to help keep their neighbourhood safe.
"Safeguarding one's own property will also help reduce the crime rate," she added.
Also present at the dinner were Datin Nafesah Raja Nong Chik, wife of Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing Minister Datuk Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin and Lembah Pantai member of parliament Nurul Izzah Anwar.
Nurul Izzah complimented the residents' association efforts in reaching out to the needy.
"We should keep up the good work and pass down these values to the next generation," she added.
Besides a best-dressed competition, a lucky draw and song and dance performances were also held.
