KUALA LUMPUR: The envoys of Euro 2012 co-hosts Ukraine and Poland launched a wine promotion in conjunction with the football championship at The Library in Avenue K, Jalan Ampang recently.

Ukraine embassy counselor Denys Kobzev and Poland ambassador Adam Jelonek did the honours along with Cronier Wines (M) Sdn Bhd managing director Emmanuel "Olex" E. Ononiwu and Cronier Wines master winemaker Johan Cronje. Euro 2012 runs from June 8 to the final on July 1.

Grape vines were introduced in the 1650s by Dutch settlers in South Africa.

In 1698, the Cronier brothers arrived in the Cape Province from Normandy on the Driebergen and quickly set about establishing their farm in what was then known as Champagne but now called Wellington in the famous wine-growing Paarl Region.
