Foundation raises RM2.8 million

WORTHY CAUSE:Mah Sing Foundation holds inaugural fundraising gala with business partners and friends to help 15 schools and non-governmental organisations

MAH Sing Foundation raised RM2,816,800 at its inaugural fundraising event entitled "An Unforgettable Night of Sharing" here recently.

The fundraising gala  featured Gary Chaw, China Bond Girls, and Astro's singing competition winners Irene Tu and Steven Liew.

Mah Sing Foundation chairman Datuk Syed Norulzaman Syed Kamarulzaman said the funds were contributed by business partners, friends and through personal contributions.

"As a public-listed corporation, we believe we have a responsibility in  the social and cultural development of our local community," he added.

Mah Sing Group Bhd managing director and group chief executive Tan Sri Leong Hoy Kum presented a personal contribution of RM300,000.

In addition, the property developer also gave RM550,000 to the foundation.

Malaysian Federation of Chinese Association president Tan Sri Datuk Seri Pheng Yin Huah  launched and witnessed the cheque presentation to the beneficiaries.

Recipients included special children's centres, dialysis centres, disabled societies, welfare homes, and Chinese schools.

The 15 beneficiaries received a part of the funds. The  balance will be distributed throughout the year and next year.

Mah Sing Foundation was  established in 2005.

It mainly provides financial assistance for medical, educational and other charitable purposes.
