The event, supported by Malaysian Celebrities Go Green (MCG2), saw  students and celebrities such as Dina Nazir, Baki Zainal, Azizi Zakaria, Dior Shaari, Joseph Ng, Ray Ng and Zenny Salihuddin going around Subang Parade to exchange every plastic bag used by shoppers for the eco bag sponsored by Avon.

Club president Michael Dev said the event was to create  a  greener place for all.

One of the Leo Club's members, Davinna Satguna Rajah, 18, said:

"The event is not just about shopping but also  how many plastic bags have been used to put in the things that you just bought.

"In this campaign, we hope  shoppers would realise that it would be better if they bring their own bags".

For MCG2 founder Baki Zainal, such a baby step from the club can make a difference.

"By doing this, shoppers would think about the importance of going green and do their bit to create  a better environment for all."

He said the MCG2 was formed to create awareness for the environment among the younger generation through activities such as river and beach cleaning, talks,  and organising Reduce, Reuse and Recycle (3R) campaigns in shopping malls.

To date, the MCG2 has gained support from local celebrities such as Reza Salleh, Amir Jahari, Aizat, Aesar Mustafa and the band Sixth Sense.
