    Makna launches music video for cancer patients

    PETALING JAYA: The National Cancer Council (Makna) recently launched a music video entitled Jom Botak: Trek For Cancer.

    The music video was made with the help of 50 local celebrities, cancer survivors, caregivers and volunteers.  

    Jom Botak is an awareness campaign aimed at raising funds for financially-challenged cancer patients.

    Jom Botak aims to get as many people as possible to shave their heads bald in support of those affected by cancer.    

    Makna  general manager Faridah Mohd Farid said the organisation  had  helped more than 150,000 cancer patients.  

    "Yearly, we help more than 4,000 cancer patients  who face financial problems," said Faridah.

    Makna also announced the second part of the campaign which  involves  eight trekkers  scaling   treacherous mountainous tops and volcanoes in Kamchatka, Russia.

    Trek team leader Datuk Dr Arunan Selvaraj said  the main objective of the event was to promote cancer awareness.

    The team members are Makna senior manager Vemanna Appannah, Subramaniam Gunesagaran, Benjamin Goon, Samhan Adnan, Mohd Yahya, Eugene Lee and Prakash Malaiyappan. The trek ends on Aug 12.
