PETALING JAYA: The National Cancer Council (Makna) recently launched a music video entitled Jom Botak: Trek For Cancer.
The music video was made with the help of 50 local celebrities, cancer survivors, caregivers and volunteers.
Jom Botak is an awareness campaign aimed at raising funds for financially-challenged cancer patients.
Jom Botak aims to get as many people as possible to shave their heads bald in support of those affected by cancer.
Makna general manager Faridah Mohd Farid said the organisation had helped more than 150,000 cancer patients.
"Yearly, we help more than 4,000 cancer patients who face financial problems," said Faridah.
Makna also announced the second part of the campaign which involves eight trekkers scaling treacherous mountainous tops and volcanoes in Kamchatka, Russia.
Trek team leader Datuk Dr Arunan Selvaraj said the main objective of the event was to promote cancer awareness.
The team members are Makna senior manager Vemanna Appannah, Subramaniam Gunesagaran, Benjamin Goon, Samhan Adnan, Mohd Yahya, Eugene Lee and Prakash Malaiyappan. The trek ends on Aug 12.
