ADDRESS THEM: Problems afflicting Batu, Kepong and Segambut to be raised with City Hall today

KUALA Lumpur mayor Datuk Ahmad Phesal Talib will be given an insight into the problems of people living in Batu, Kepong and Segambut at his office at Menara DBKL here today.

The Federal Territory wing of Gerakan led by party president Tan Sri Koh Tsu Koon is expected to present a PowerPoint presentation to the mayor on  issues affecting the public at the three neighbourhoods, which are also major constituencies within the Federal Territories.

Kepong BN coordinator Lau Hoi Keong, who spoke to Streets recently, said  20 delegates from the party will be attending the meeting in the morning.

Lau, who is expected to lead the presentation on Kepong, said the number one issue on his list was the worsening congestion in the 3km-long Jalan Kepong.

Lau proposed the revival of City Hall's plans to construct a multi-storey interchange near Desa Kompleks at KTM Kepong.

The plan, which was proposed a number of years ago, was shelved due to the economic slowdown some four to six years ago.

Calls have also been made to adjust the synchronisation of the numerous traffic lights so that traffic can flow smoother.

Segambut BN coordinator Jayanthi Devi Balaguru who will head the presentation on Segambut will highlight the neighbourhood's flood concerns.

She will also raise the issue of creating a heritage village within the lowland leasehold villages that stretch from Jalan Duta right up to Segambut Bahagia as well as the woes of those living in the long houses at the Taman Tun recreational park.

Several squatter issues in Batu are also expected to be raised during the meeting.
