EXOTIC:A spread of 18 dishes from the Middle East await patrons at the poolside of Cascade Restaurant

TO dine by the pool under the stars, head to Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur's Cascade Restaurant which is offering Middle Eastern cuisine served al fresco.

As you savour the many flavours of Arabian delights, you will also be taking in the stunning view of the city skyline and lush landscape of Kuala Lumpur City Centre park.

With 18 dishes on the menu, patrons can indulge in many selections of appetisers, main courses, shawarma and desserts.

The spread features Arabic mezzeh, Lebanese tabouleh, Turkish shepherd's salad, Greek spanakopita, cheese sambousseh and Mediterranean salmon, among others.

This authentic fare is prepared by the hotel's chefs de cuisine Raymond Abou Rjeily and Mustapha Benhadou.

Rjeily, who has 12 years of culinary experience, graduated from La Sagesse University in Lebanon with a diploma in culinary arts.

"The whole menu is based on authenticity. My speciality is Lebanese cuisine while my partner Mustapha prepares the food of Morroco.

"All ingredients are specially imported from the Middle East and the food is freshly cooked.

"Patrons, especially locals, should not miss this special promotion as we only offer Middle Eastern cuisine once a year," he said.

Rjeily recommends the Lebanese dish called chicken shish taouk. It is an aromatic and tender Lebanese chicken skewer spiced with lemon and Arabic pickles.

"The chicken is marinated for 24 hours in garlic and tomato, making it tender, sweet and juicy," said  Rjeily.

Other special highlights are milk lamb shank tagine, lamb kofta kebab and Arabic mixed grill.

Milk lamb shank tagine is a fragrant lamb stew prepared by Mustapha. The lamb is slowly cooked over  low heat for a tender meat. The dish is served with ratatouille couscous and roasted pumpkin.

For those with a liking for kebabs, go for the Middle Eastern lamb kofta kebab served with pita bread and french fries.

The Arabic mixed grill is a platter of lamb kofta, beef kebab, chicken shish taouk, Arabian rice and French fries.

There is also the choice of lamb or chicken shawarma. Both are served with ekemek bread and French fries.

Mustapha is presenting his signature dessert called Zabadi Berries. It is a yogurt-mousse served with caramelised macadamia nuts and amarena cherry.

Priced from RM18++ per dish, the promotion is available until July 18.

Cascade Restaurant is on Level 3.
